On January 13, 2019, the Sugar Valley Historical
Society held their general membership meeting. Prior to the meeting, Mr. Jimmy Brown gave a presentation on the Civil War and the history of Hampton’s Battery F. Jimmy is from
Spring Mills in Centre County and has been in Civil War reenacting since he was 3 weeks old. He has a lifelong love of history and preserving it for the future.
For his presentation, he dressed in the uniform of a Union Artillery Sergeant and presented a hands-on experience, showing reproduction items from the era, clothing, personal items, and equipment of the soldier . He also talked about the history of the Civil War unit Hampton’s Battery F.
The program was free and open to the public.
