The resource room at the Sugar Valley Historical Society museum is growing more each month. Many families have donated their family’s histories and family trees. Mary Lamey Hoffer left us a vast amount of history on area families and a grant allowed us to add many research books and CD’s. Jack Harbach left us a collection of old photos of Sugar Valley.
Our genealogies: Some of the Sugar Valley ancestors we have information on are: Bierly, Barner, Grenninger, Harbach, Imes, Keene, Kleckner, Lamey, McCaleb, Nicholas, Reuther, Rishel, Stamm, Washburn, Weaver, Weber, Wilt, Wise, and many more. We also have a file cabinet with older and more recent obituaries.
Our books include: Linn’s History, Sugar Valley Cemetery and Church records, History of Lycoming County, History of Centre County, History of Susquehanna and Junita Counties, deeds and maps of Pennsylvania counties, Clinton County marriage records, area township records, early school records, ledgers of former businesses, and many, many more. Plus, we have information on the 1918 fire in Loganton, many area one-room schools and all the Sugar Valley High School yearbooks.
Our CD’s to access are: DAR records, Clinton County Birth and Death Records, Clinton County Wills Index, Centre County Births and Deaths 1852-1905, Linn’s History, Sugar Valley Church Records.
